Congressional Republicans are hashing out ways to compromise on the $10,000 state and local tax deduction cap in the runup to a deal they’re looking to make before 2024.
While any bill would need a vehicle—a government funding bill, must-pass legislation, or even a tax package could work—some members see a chance to make some headway before they face voters again.
While the cap is unlikely to be addressed before it and other aspects of the 2017 tax law expire in 2025, some say the support is there.
