The Senate returned for its first full day after a weekslong break, and beyond questions about the minority leader’s health, tax chatter was in the air.
First up, this week marks the deadline for states to respond to IRS requests to partner with the agency on a pilot for a direct filing system for 2024. Agency chief Danny Werfel set the deadline in a July letter to top officials at the Federation of Tax Administrators.
