HILL TAX BRIEFING: Year-End Tax Talks Continuing

Tax staffers for congressional leaders spent the weekend negotiating a year-end tax bill, but have not reached final decisions as of this morning.

Over the course of the weekend, they weighed elements like extending tax credits to the end of 2020 and expanding some refundable tax credits. There is also interest in acting on a retirement package (H.R. 1994), and disaster tax relief, according to sources familiar with the discussions.

Lawmakers now face a shrinking time window to reach agreement.
