Hochul’s $227 Billion NY Budget Boosts MTA Finances, Schools (1)

New York Governor Kathy Hochul unveiled a $227 billion budget for the next fiscal year that aims to bolster the finances of the struggling Metropolitan Transportation Authority and boost spending on health care and education — all without raising income taxes and despite a slowing economy.

The Democratic governor also wants to add $270 million to her $25 billion, five-year plan to build 800,000 units of new housing, according to a budget blueprint released Wednesday.
