Tax, IRS Bills Approved by House Panel
The House advanced tax administration legislation Wednesday, with the Ways and Means Committee moving forward with bipartisan bills aimed at improving the IRS whistleblower program and taxpayer services.
The whistleblower bill (H.R. 7959) would strengthen the rights of those who come forward to report noncompliance with tax laws. The taxpayer services bill (H.R. 7971) would require the IRS to create a dashboard to keep taxpayers updated about backlogs and to expand online accounts.
