House Democratic leaders are moving to create two select committees, one focused on climate issues and another looking at how to modernize Congress.
The Select Committee on the Climate Crisis would have nine Democrats and six Republicans, according to the rules package prepared for a Jan. 3 vote. It would have no legislative jurisdiction and instead “investigate, study, make findings and develop recommendations” to reduce pollution and other activities that affect climate change.
