House Tax Panel to See Membership Shakeup
Get ready for a different-looking House Ways and Means Committee in 2027.
Three Democrats and five Republicans on the tax-writing panel have announced they won’t be back in the House next Congress, and others are in competitive districts. The departing lawmakers include several subcommittee chairs and ranking members, including Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) and Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.).
The committee will particularly have a lot of new faces if Democrats win control of the House in November’s elections, since the current makeup of 19 Democrats and 26 Republicans would flip.
