A key House Republican hopes to quickly line up a Democratic co-lead in an effort to enact legislation changing the tax treatment of cryptocurrency by next summer.
“We believe we can get this thing through by hopefully next August,” Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) said at the Blockchain Association’s policy summit in Washington on Tuesday.
He said he’s been having “very good” talks with three or four fellow members of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee and hopes to announce a lead Democratic co-sponsor “soon.”
