Immigrant Groups Claim Standing to Halt IRS-DHS Tax Data Sharing

A group of Chicago-area not-for-profits providing education services for immigrants said a district court wrongly ruled they lack standing to halt an agreement for tax information sharing between the IRS and Department of Homeland Security.

Centro de Trabajadores Unidos, Immigrant Solidarity DuPage and other groups contesting the information sharing agreement signed earlier this year, told the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit their challenge to the agreement should be allowed to proceed, and asked the court to reverse a district judge’s denial of their request for an order blocking the agencies’ data sharing.
