Incoming EU Tax Head to Push for Global Adoption of Tax Deal

The European Union’s incoming tax chief will continue pushing for implementation of the global tax deal across the globe, but hinted at taking a different direction if part of it fails.

At a European Parliament hearing Thursday, Wopke Hoekstra said the EU prefers an internationally-agreed implementation of reforms under the deal that would reallocate profits of multinationals. He added that he would work with EU finance ministers to “look at the best possible solution” if that proposal fails.
