Industry Urges Treasury to Issue Clean Fuels Tax Credit Guidance

A collection of 25 trade associations are calling on the Treasury Department to issue regulations on the Section 45Z clean fuels production credit as companies mull plans in the space.

The letter, signed by groups representing producers, feedstock providers, blenders, consumers, and retailers of low-carbon, renewable fuels, and addressed to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, argued that companies need guidance before the tax credit goes into effect at the start of 2025.

Uncertainty around the rules can make it challenging for companies to pursue projects and investment until there is more certainty, the letter said.
