The founder of a nationwide tax preparation franchising business was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for fraud and tax crimes, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
Fesum Ogbazion, founder of Instant Tax Service, was convicted by a federal jury in 2017 of conspiring with others to commit wire fraud by directing the company to offer customers loans that were not actually available and charging the customers fees. The jury also found him guilty of evading employment taxes.
