Instructions for IRS Research-Credit Form Expected by Year’s End

IRS instructions on its form for taxpayers seeking the research credit should be released in November or December, an agency attorney said Wednesday.

The instructions for Form 6765 will address questions like what is considered a major portion of a trade or business whose acquisition or disposal must be reported, as well as the requirement for information to be reported on a controlled group basis, said Anthony Sacco, an attorney in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel.
