Iowa Tampon Tax Gone in 2023 After Governor Signs Legislation

Iowa will strike sales taxes on menstrual products and diapers starting in 2023, under a measure signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds (R).

Products eligible for the tax exemption are tampons, panty liners, menstrual cups, sanitary napkins, and child or adult diapers, whether cloth or disposable.

  • Legislators overwhelmingly approved SF 2367 last month.
  • Iowa’s law, signed Friday, will leave half of the states levying sales taxes on menstrual products.
