Ireland Projects Carbon Tax Will Raise Billions in Six Years

The Irish government estimates its carbon taxes on fuels and natural gas will bring in close to an additional 10 billion euros ($11.1 billion) from 2024 to 2030, the country’s Department of Finance wrote in a report issued Sept. 20.

The Department of Finance split its estimates into two groups: projected revenue collection with existing measures in place, and collections with additional measures in place. The estimates are meant to aid in policy development and gauge the impact of the country’s Climate Action Plan 2024.
