The IRS is warning businesses and others to be wary of promoters attempting to mislead taxpayers into false Employee Retention Credit claims, the agency said Friday.
These false claims put businesses and other entities in jeopardy of penalties, interest, and criminal prosecution for claiming the ERC without qualifying, according to the IRS.
The Dirty Dozen list is an annual campaign by the IRS highlighting 12 scams and schemes that put taxpayers and the tax professional community at risk.
