IRS Allowed to Sell Dentist’s Property for $1.4 Million Tax Debt

The IRS can sell off a property to recoup a Utah dentist’s unpaid taxes and penalties of close to $1.4 million, a federal district court ruled.

Judge Robert J. Shelby of the US District Court for the District of Utah on Monday granted the government’s motion for summary judgment in a seven-year-old case against Derald Geddes, allowing it to sell his Ogden home to fulfill his tax debts.

Shelby also dismissed a number of motions from Geddes because he “provides no factual basis for these contentions, nor any legal bases suggesting his complained-of procedural improprieties” that would further delay the ...
