The IRS named “suspicious communications in all its forms designed to either trick, surprise or scare someone into responding before thinking” as the seventh item on the 2022 ‘Dirty Dozen’ scams warning list, according to the agency Wednesday.
Criminals use texts, emails, and pre-recorded, urgent or threatening calls to conduct these scams.
