IRS Appeals Office Mulls Alternative Dispute Resolution Changes

The IRS’s appeals office is considering trying out some new approaches to alternative dispute resolution, the newly named acting head of the office said Monday.

The Independent Office of Appeals hopes to roll out some ADR pilot programs by the end of the current fiscal year in September, said Elizabeth Askey, the current deputy chief of the office who will become acting chief April 1, speaking at a Practising Law Institute event.
