IRS Appeals Office Sees Rise in Cases From Biden-Era Enforcement

The IRS Independent Office of Appeals is seeing an uptick in cases in a ripple effect from an enforcement push during the Biden administration, the chief said.

The bump in the number of cases received comes at the same time the office will see close to 30% of its workers leave by the end of the year. Taxpayers can go through Appeals to get their dispute resolved, without having to go through litigation. The Appeals Office had 38,782 total receipts as of last month.
