An IRS auditing campaign launched earlier this year got sidetracked by pandemic-related work, but the resultant audits are starting to get off the ground, an official said.
Cases related to the “research issue” campaign, which was announced in February, are “currently in the process of being assigned to the field,” said Joseph Banks, acting director for corporate issues and credits in the IRS’s Large Business & International division.
“Covid issues have slowed it down a little bit, but we’re in the process of rolling those returns out,” he said, speaking during a Wednesday webcast hosted by Deloitte.
