IRS Boosts Partnership Effort With Associate Chief Counsel Post

The IRS is further ramping up its focus on partnerships and passthrough entities with the hiring of a new Associate Chief Counsel.

Jeffrey Erickson will be the first Associate Chief Counsel for the newly formed Passthroughs, Trusts and Estates Office, which will oversee legal advisory services supporting interpretation, application, enforcement and litigation, the agency announced Tuesday. He most recently served as a Principal in Ernst & Young’s National Tax Passthroughs Transaction Group and is expected to join the IRS at the beginning of 2025.

Erickson had worked for the the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in the 1990s.
