IRS Chief of Tax Compliance to Leave in Latest Senior Departure

Heather Maloy, the chief taxpayer compliance officer at the IRS, is exiting the agency March 21, according to three people familiar with the situation.

Maloy joins other top leaders who have departed amid filing season. The move comes as the Trump administration puts pressure on the agency to gut its workforce and share sensitive taxpayer data.

The chief compliance officer oversees the Large Business and International division, the Small Business/Self Employed division, the Tax Exempt and Government Entities division, IRS Criminal Investigation, the Office of Professional Responsibility, the Return Preparer Office and the Whistleblower Office.
