IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel told lawmakers Wednesday that more details are coming soon on how the agency plans to spend the $80 billion it got in last year’s tax-and-climate law over the next decade.
At his first appearance before Congress since being confirmed in March, Werfel told the Senate Finance Committee he planned to brief lawmakers this week on the plan the IRS released earlier this month, and also to provide additional information in the near future. Republicans have complained that the IRS’s plan lacks key long-term details, including on hiring.
