A cryptocurrency owner can’t bring his lawsuit challenging the IRS’s seizure of his and others’ cryptocurrency records through a “John Doe” summons that didn’t name the taxpayers being targeted, a federal court ruled Tuesday.

The court sided with the government without reaching the merits of James Harper’s lawsuit because it concluded it didn’t have jurisdiction to address some of the claims, and that others weren’t claims for which it could grant relief.
