IRS Delegation Order: Authority Delegated to Whistleblower Office (IRC §7623)

Delegations of authority to the Director, Whistleblower Office regarding whistleblower awards and cases, the IRS released May 3. The Director, Whistleblower Office has been delegated the authority to reject or deny a claim, approve and determine whistleblower awards, under I.R.C. §7623, and the authority to disclose information receive, analyze, and assign information referred for an audit or examination under §7623 and §6103(k)(13). Redelegation to Whistleblowers Office’s subdivisions and employees are allowed within certain case parameters. The order supersedes Delegation Order 25-7 (Rev. 4), dated Oct. 23, 2020.
