Trump Withdraws Korb’s Chief Counsel Bid
Attorneys at the IRS will need to wait longer for a permanent leader, after President Donald Trump pulled the nominee to lead the chief counsel’s office.
Trump on Friday announced without explanation that he was withdrawing Donald Korb’s nomination to be assistant general counsel at the Treasury Department, scuttling plans for the Senate to confirm the Sullivan & Cromwell LLP tax lawyer this week.
The about-face comes days after far-right political activist Laura Loomer said Korb’s support from a Democratic tax writer and past criticism of whistleblowers posed disqualifying “red flags.” Read More
