Draft Instructions to Form 8978, Partner’s Additional Reporting Year, released Oct. 26 to reflect that check boxes have been added to Form 8978 and its Schedule A to indicate the source of the adjustments: BBA audit or AAR filing. If a partner has adjustments from more than one partnership, or has a partnership with more than 4 years of adjustments, the partner must file separate Forms 8978 and Schedules A with the source of adjustment indicated for each using the BBA audit and/or the AAR filing check boxes, the form stated.
