IRS Independent Appeals Head Keyso to Retire at End of Month

IRS Chief of Appeals Andrew Keyso will retire on March 31 after more than 33 years at the agency, the IRS confirmed Friday.

Keyso in 2020 became the head of IRS Independent Office of Appeals, which is an independent function from the IRS and helps taxpayers resolve tax controversies without litigation.

He previously served in a range of roles, including chief of staff, associate chief counsel of the Income Tax and Accounting Division, special counsel to the chief counsel, and as an attorney in the Procedure and Administration Division. He started at the IRS as a revenue agent in Newark, ...
