The IRS issued a private letter ruling on I.R.C. §1400Z-2 and Treas. Reg. §301.9100, granting a taxpayer extension of time to self-certify as a qualified opportunity fund (QOF) by filing Form 8996 for the year of formation, after determining the taxpayer acted reasonably and in good faith while the government’s interests were not prejudiced.
