The IRS is planning a new unit to crack down on abuses involving pass-through entities like partnerships and S corporations, which the agency says wealthy individuals are using to avoid taxes.
The new unit will include many of the 3,700 people the IRS expects to hire to help with the expanded enforcement efforts it plans using its funding under the Inflation Reduction Act, IRS officials said Wednesday in announcing the new unit.
