IRS Moves Workers to DOJ for Domestic Terrorism Task Force

The IRS has 15 employees working at the Justice Department as part of the federal government’s efforts to combat domestic terrorism, agency CEO Frank Bisignano told lawmakers Wednesday.

The IRS Criminal Investigation unit is participating in an FBI-led task force against domestic terrorism and political violence that focuses primarily on ties to antifa, which refers to a left-leaning movement. President Donald Trump directed the effort in a September executive order. Democrats and left-leaning nonprofits have concerns that the task force may be used to target nonprofits that have different ideological views from the Trump administration.
