IRS Office of Appeals Taps Elizabeth Askey as New Deputy Chief

The IRS has selected Elizabeth Askey as the new deputy chief of the Independent Office of Appeals, according to the agency Wednesday.

Askey will lead nationwide programs designed to resolve tax controversies without litigation on behalf of both the federal government and taxpayers, the IRS said.

She has served as a tax controversy and policy practitioner in both accounting and law firms as well as private industry for almost 30 years. She joined the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in 2019 as deputy division counsel (international) for the Large Business & International Division
