The IRS is not accepting new proposals for its 2025 Joint Statistical Research Program until staffing levels are improved.
IRS’s Statistics of Income Division typically partners with researchers outside the government to use IRS data to better understand the impacts of tax policy and taxpayers’ behaviors. However, because of President Donald Trump’s cost cutting efforts across the government, the agency doesn’t have the workers to continue the program at this time, the agency announced Tuesday.
