IRS Provides Tax Relief for Louisiana Tropical Storm Victims

The Internal Revenue Service will provide tax relief and extend filing deadlines for individuals and businesses in the entire state of Louisiana affected by Tropical Storm Francine, the agency announced Friday.

Taxpayers in areas designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency now have until Feb. 3, 2025, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the IRS said.

In addition, penalties for failing to make payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after Sept. 10, 2024, and before Sept. 25, 2024, will be abated, as long as the deposits are made by Sept. ...
