Publication 4164, Modernized e-File (MeF) Guide for Software Developers and Transmitters Processing Year 2019, that outlines the communication procedures, transmission formats, business rules and validation procedures for returns e-filed through the Modernized e-file (MeF) System released October 3. The IRS and payroll-industry partners will continue the Form W-2 Verification Code pilot for tax year 2018, processing-year 2019, the publication highlighted.
