The IRS tool that allows taxpayers and tax professionals to respond to notices electronically hit 1 million submissions and continues to grow, the agency said Wednesday.
Users can respond digitally to notices on a range of issues—such as the child tax credit and unreported income—by using the document upload tool. The billions in funds from the Democrats’ 2022 tax-and-climate law has accelerated the scope and improvements to the tool after its limited launch in 2021.
“This tool saves time for taxpayers and helps IRS employees process responses faster and more efficiently,” IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel said in a statement.
