The IRS on Wednesday released its five-year strategic plan outlining broad goals for the agency.
Goals outlined in the 26-page plan, which covers the fiscal years 2022 to 2026, include expanding digital services and outreach to taxpayers, enhancing enforcement efforts, fostering a diverse workforce and modernizing agency technology.
The report comes as the IRS faces numerous longstanding taxpayer service, enforcement, recruiting, and technology challenges, which have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
