The IRS small business/self-employed division plans to hire about 2,000 officers for various roles in examinations this fiscal year, an official said.
Within those 2,000 new hires, about 1,300 of them will go to revenue agent jobs in the field, De Lon Harris, co-commissioner of the division, said Friday at an NYU tax controversy forum. That number is “quite a significant increase” compared to the 300 agents hired in 2020 and 450 revenue agents hired in 2019, Harris said.
