IRS Sues Colorado Tax Return Preparer for False Customer Filings

A federal tax return preparer in Colorado shouldn’t be allowed to continue operating his business because he has repeatedly engaged in fraudulent and deceptive conduct while handling customers’ returns, the US told a federal court Friday.

Daniel Mattison, owner of DCM Financial Inc., failed to comply with due diligence requirements and falsely reported income on customer returns, the US said in its complaint. For that reason, the US District Court for the District of Colorado should block Mattison from acting as a return preparer for anyone but himself, the complaint said.
