IRS, Tax Enforcement Would Get Boosts Under Trump Budget Plan

It appears the IRS has convinced President Donald Trump that it needs more money—his fiscal year 2020 plan proposes the largest budget for the agency in seven years.

Trump’s budget blueprint released March 11 would allocate $11.5 billion to the Internal Revenue Service, a $200 million increase from the agency’s enacted funding levels for fiscal 2019.

It is the largest request Trump has made for the agency, and if lawmakers ultimately follow the president’s lead, the IRS would be earmarked its largest budget since fiscal 2013.
