IRS Tax Tip: Taxpayer Questions About Private Collection Process, Agencies can be Found on IRS.gov (IRC §6306)

Taxpayers contacted by a private collection agency on behalf of the IRS can find answers to questions they have on the IRS’s recently updated the private debt collection pages, the IRS stated. Generally, the web pages will include the names and addresses of the four collection agencies the IRS uses, how the collection process works, and what a taxpayer should do after being contacted.
