The IRS plans to start producing a revised collection notice next year in response to behavioral tests the agency conducted to find ways to improve taxpayer responsiveness, an agency official said.
The revised document will be a condensed version of Notification of Balance Due—also known as a CP14 notice—with fewer pages to prevent taxpayers from being overloaded with information, said Fred Schindler, director of collection headquarters in the IRS’s Small Business/Self-Employed division.
