Nine Tax Assistance Centers to Close
As the IRS gears up for its first tax-filing season under the new GOP tax-and-spending law, the Trump administration plans to close nine taxpayer assistance center sites—a move angering at least one Republican lawmaker whose district would be impacted.
The IRS told Congress that it plans to shutter certain sites, effective Nov. 30, located in Pennsylvania, Iowa, New York, Kentucky, California, and West Virginia. All but one is represented by a Republican in the House.
