The IRS likely will use funds from President Joe Biden’s tax-and-climate law to remain fully operational if the government shuts down later this month, the president of the union for IRS employees said Monday.
IRS employees still will work and be paid if the government does shut down, but the union is waiting to see the final plan from the Treasury Department, National Treasury Employees Union President Doreen Greenwald said in a press call. The union represents about 65,000 IRS employees across the country.
