IRS Workforce Cuts, GOP Tax Law on Corporate Tax Execs’ Minds

The impacts of IRS employee cuts, a revised global tax regime and the GOP tax law are some of the biggest topics on the minds of corporate tax executives.

After the Trump administration shrunk the IRS workforce by a quarter, gas distributor Airgas anticipates state tax authorities could become more aggressive, said Bonnie Baskin, the company’s deputy vice president of income tax.

“That is a legitimate concern if the states are going to become a little more sophisticated and hire that talent from the IRS,” Baskin said during a Wednesday panel at the Philadelphia Tax Conference.
