The Justice Department’s bankruptcy watchdog is challenging at least $13 million in fees collected by Jackson Walker LLP following revelations that it didn’t disclose allegations of a romantic relationship between an attorney and a prominent Houston judge.
The US Trustee late Thursday asked the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas to set aside orders awarding fees and expenses to Jackson Walker in several Chapter 11 cases so it and others can challenge what it called a “tainted process.” The potential disgorgement of millions of dollars in fees and expenses represents the latest fallout of the scandal.
