John O. Colvin, Longtime Tax Court Chief and Senior Judge, Dies

US Tax Court Judge John O. Colvin died March 11, the court said in a statement Thursday.

Appointed by President Ronald Reagan as a Tax Court judge in 1988, he was sworn in for his first term by then-Vice President George H.W. Bush. He was reappointed by President George W. Bush and began his second term in 2004. Colvin, 77, served as chief judge from June 1, 2006, to May 31, 2012, and from March 8 to Aug. 6, 2013. He assumed senior status in 2016, the court said.
