Kentucky Governor Offers Tax Relief to Ease Inflation Hits

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order halting an increase in vehicle property tax and called for a temporary 1% sales tax cut.

With a flush budget and consumers facing higher prices, the Democratic governor is seeking immediate tax relief for residents as inflation rises to a four-decade high.

  • The average motor vehicle’s property valuation in Kentucky has risen from $8,006 to $11,162 in the past year, Beshear said Wednesday. Under the signed order, a resident who owns the same vehicle in a similar condition won’t pay taxes on the inflated value for the next two years.
