Kyocera Now Owes $13 Million in Years-Running Tax Row, IRS Says

The government is asserting a new, increased income tax burden against Kyocera AVX Components Corp. as the two sides continue to dispute the South Carolina company’s claimed deductions.

The government filed a new suit March 12 in the US District Court for the District of South Carolina against the electronic components manufacturer, asserting it now owes $13.36 million, plus interest, for an IRS refund that shouldn’t have been issued for its 2018 tax year. A separate lawsuit, where the company claims it’s being unlawfully denied $8.9 million in tax credits for that year, remains ongoing.
